Colombia : FARC Political Prisoners on Strike

FARC political prisoners are on hunger strike in 13 prisons across Colombia. It is estimated that Colombia now holds 10,000 political prisoners, all of whom receive an especially harsh treatment. One prisoner told teleSUR that this is because the government and the oligarchy see them as more dangerous than any other criminals. Striking prisoners are denouncing ill treatment and a lack of medical care, and, as a positive gesture in the peace process, are demanding the immediate release of some prisoners on humanitarian grounds, especially those who are critically ill, terminally ill or with serious combat injuries.
