Rare Rhino Undertakes 10,000-Mile Journey For Survival Of His Species

Harapan's journey from the U.S. to Indonesia comes at a critical time for his species; there are less than 100 Sumatran rhinos still alive today.

The last Sumatran rhino born in the U.S. recently made his way to Indonesia—touching down in Jakarta en route to Sumatra. 
Harapan, or Harry as he's affectionately known, was scheduled to make the 50-hour-long jaunt for some months now.
The roughly 10,000-mile journey began on October 30th, with his keeper, a veterinarian and six cases of food in tow. 
The decision to send Harry to the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in Way Kambas National Park was made so that he would have a chance to breed and help his struggling species survive.
