Saint Lucia: For Caribbean Nations ‘Climate Change is Real’

CARICOM nations are now fine tuning their positions on climate change in the run up to the 2015 Paris climate summit that will begin on November 30. A key demand of the 15-country Caribbean bloc is a 1.5° Celsius cap on greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change experts say that the failure of rich nations to commit to a significant reduction in emissions could result in the inundation of Caribbean ports, destruction of power plants, disappearance of coastal lands, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people. For Caribbean nations, they say, climate change is real. Alison Kentish reports from Saint Lucia for teleSUR.
