The Michelle Bachelet administration has approved a payment for those who were tortured during the Pinochet dictatorship. The Chilean Congress approved a payment of one million pesos, or approximately $1500 U.S. dollars to be given to those who were political prisoners or torture victims under Pinochet. More than 38,000 people were tortured under the dictatorship. teleSUR
