Church Claims Bike Lanes Would Infringe On Religious Rights

The United House of Prayer church in D.C. has sent a letter to the District Department of Transportation arguing that bike lanes proposed for an adjacent street would inhibit their free exercise of religion by causing traffic and parking hardships for the congregants.

A proposed bike lane project is being perceived by one D.C. church as a discriminatory move that would impose on their right to religious exercise. 

A legal representative for the United House of Prayer has sent a letter to the District Department of Transportation, or DDOT, to speak out against installing bike lanes along the sections of 6th Street Northwest that are adjacent to the church.
