Peru: Thousands Protest IMF and World Bank Summit

Activists marched in Lima, Peru, on Friday to the building where the International Monetary Fund and World Bank are holding their annual meeting. Workers and campesinos insist that Peru is neither a success story nor an economic miracle of these institutions. Peru has followed IMF and World Bank policies for decades with mixed results. A high GDP growth was registered up to 2014, followed by a sharp deceleration of the economy, with some of the worst human development indicators in the region, especially in education, inequality and malnutrition.
