Mother Directed To Airport ‘Pet Relief Area’ To Pump Breast Milk

A mother traveling through Washington Dulles International Airport needed a place for pumping breast milk and was suggested by United Airlines staff to go to a ‘pet relief area.’


During a layover at Washington Dulles International Airport, a mother of a 4-month-old child needed a place where she could pump breast milk.
United Airlines staff suggested the airport’s designated ‘pet relief area’ as an option besides the restrooms. 
Though the room is probably fine for the service dogs who frequent Dulles, Liz Cooper of Newton, Massachusetts was horrified when she looked at the facility.
