Int'l Court has Jurisdiction in Bolivia's Demand for Sea Access

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague ruled that it has jurisdiction to consider Bolivia's claim against Chile for sea access. Bolivia lost its sea coast to Chile in the 1879-1883 War of the Pacific. Chile had argued that the lacks jurisdiction and in response to today's ruling, President Michele Bachelet emphasized that it said nothing on the merits of the case. Chile considers Bolivia's long-standing demand a closed case under international law. teleSUR
