Women have been working hard since the beginning of time. Since the Industrial Revolution, the role of women in the work place has changed drastically. Women are employed outside of their homes in ever growing numbers now that wealth and status are ever more important in American Society. To show that women are involved in nearly every aspect of the workplace, the creation of a shirt is chronicled. Women are involved each step of the way, from picking the cotton, to making the thread, to weaving the fabric, to sewing the shirt. Women ship the shirts off to shops where women often place the orders. This video tries to show the important role that women take in the economy. It says that because women are so vital in the workforce, they deserve fair rights as wage earners, including equal opportunity, reasonable hours, fair pay and a clean and safe working environment.
