University In China Holds Lottery To Determine Students’ Majors

Second-year students at the University of South China’s Department of Civil Engineering recently drew from a lottery to determine which of the program’s 7 specializations they would be pursuing.



At many institutions of higher learning, some majors are much more popular than others, so a school in China instituted a rather unique way of resolving this issue.

The only students exempt were the 190 students who scored highest on an exam taken at the end of the first year.
