Peru: 37% of Women Have Experienced Domestic Violence

A report from Peru's National Statistics Institute (INEI) indicates that 37% of women have been victims of domestic violence. About 70% of victims of physical or sexual violence have succumbed to depression or addictions, mainly sleeping bills or alcohol, with many often turning to stronger substances. Groups such as Vida Mujer have provided support and assistance to some women, but most victims of domestic violence are forced to fend for themselves. Rael Mora reports from Lima, teleSUR
