One of my mottos is, “Eat Cake for Breakfast” so I decided to disguise breakfast bagels as CAKE! This recipe is a great way to surprise your family on a weekend morning! I used my go-to vanilla cake recipe for the bagels, buttercream for the cream cheese and coloured fondant for the exterior of the bagel and the seeds. This recipe is a great way for you budding cake artists to practice your carving and fondant skills!

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs, room temperature 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup whole milk, room temperature 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups granulated sugar 4 large egg whites 1 pound unsalted butter, room temperature 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract White fondant Black fondant Ivory food colouring Alcohol Jam (optional)
