Report: Americans Consuming Fewer Calories

A New York Times review of existing research has found that Americans are finally consuming fewer calories on average--a decline attributed in part by less intake of sugary beverages.

Americans have long been criticized for their poor diet choices, but that may finally be changing for the better. 

According to a New York Times review of research studies on the topic, children in the U.S. are consuming a minimum of nine percent fewer calories on average each day, and though the difference for adults is less, the amount has been falling continuously for the first time since peaking in 2003.
