Meth Lab Is Suspected Cause Of Explosion In Government Building

Though it’s hard to imagine that anyone would go so far as to set up a meth lab inside a government building, it’s appearing like that exact thing happened.

Among the many things the show Breaking Bad taught viewers is that sometimes the best place to build a meth lab - and hide illicit activity in general - is in plain sight.


Though it’s hard to imagine that anyone would go so far as to set up such an operation inside a government building, it appears that's exactly what happened.


Officials suspect methamphetamine production had something to do with the July 18th explosion at National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland. 

The blast occurred in an unused room located within a small building designated for special projects.
