Sepp Blatter, FIFA President, spoke out for the first time, following the arrests of seven top officials after a US inquiry. Blatter blamed the "actions of individuals" and said corruption "has to be stopped now" to prevent FIFA's reputation from being "dragged through the mud." He rejected demands from European association UEFA that he resign and is widely expected to win a fifth term in the election on Friday having held the position since 1998.
