Mexico: Gov't Expropriation of Indigenous Land Sparks Protests

While Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto's administration claims major advances have been made in reforestation, with 450,000 hectares planted since 2012, the government has nevertheless been confiscating indigenous land to build infrastructure. The latest case involves the community of Xochicuautla in the State of Mexico whose residents are protesting a presidential decree confiscating their land to build a highway.
