Beginning as resistance to Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon, Hezbollah has developed into a major regional force. But what does it want now?

And what's in the works as Hezbollah -- which now has Christian and other allies -- clashes with the Bush-supported Lebanese government? Hatoum reports that Lebanon's political tumult is a microcosm of larger conflicts between the U.S., French, Egyptian and Saudi governments on one side and the Iranian and Syrian governments on the other.
