Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has rejected plans for talks between Lebanon and Israel in the United States, adding that any negotiations would be futile as Israeli forces intensify attacks on Lebanon.

00:10It comes as the Israel forces has reportedly struck 150 targets across southern Lebanon in the last 24 hours alone.
00:20The Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors to Washington are set to meet on Tuesday to discuss possible direct talks between the
00:27two sides.
00:28But Kassim claimed the move is a ploy to pressure Hezbollah into laying down its weapons.
00:34Lebanese authorities say their priority is to secure a ceasefire.
00:38But Israel has dismissed that, pushing instead for formal peace negotiations.
00:42The United States and Iran have agreed to a two-week ceasefire, but the deal does not extend to Lebanon.
00:48Israeli strikes on Lebanon have so far killed over 2,000 people and displacing over a million since the conflict
00:55began.
