Felipe Gonzalez Left Caracas with Help of Colombian Air Force

The government of Colombia has admitted offering its Air Force plane to take Former Spanish Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez out of Caracas. The Colombian Foreign Minister called Gonzalez an unconditional friend of Colombia and its peace process. He also said that Gonzalez met Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos at the Presidential Palace. Gonzalez went to Caracas to help in the defense of imprisoned right-wing opposition leaders, but a Venezuelan Supreme Court decision barred him from doing so. Gonzalez was the Prime Minister of Spain from 1982 to 1996 and was responsible for the privatization of state companies and the accumulation of a staggering national debt. teleSUR
