Tragic death: body of a famous China TV presenter found in lake
The body of a famous Chinese TV presenter was found beneath a bridge in the Yongchuan district in China's south-western Chongqing municipality earlier this month. The half-naked body has multiple wounds in head and neck.
Chen Xia, 26, was a famous programme host was reportedly walking back home through Longshui Lake park (大足龍水湖) on July 7 but encountered two knife-wielding muggers.
The men believed the well-known woman would be loaded and reportedly became furious when they realized she was carrying small change — less than a dollar.
Enraged, the muggers knifed her head and neck repeatedly before throwing her into the lake, still alive. Her screams alerted passers-by who called police.
Sadly, she was confirmed dead when the medics arrived.
The two alleged killers Chi Peng, 27, and Lee Shih, 24, were arrested at 2 a.m. on July 11th.
Some web commenters suggest the facts of the story don't add up, and believe Chen may have been murdered to cover up dealings with powerful forces.
There is no evidence that this was anything other than a horrific crime.
