Nobody notices dead man hanging from tree in downtown Chicago

CHICAGO — Police say they believe a man committed suicide by hanging in downtown Chicago. Police were received the first call about the body at 7:50 Monday morning.

Thousands of Chicagoans breaking a sweat Monday morning near Lake Shore Drive and Foster Avenue didn't seem to notice the dead man hanging from a tree.

That, or they thought is was a joke, like Linda Ewen did when she first spotted the body from her Uber cab. But the feeling that something was wrong didn't pass, so she called 911.

A non-criminal investigation is underway but police have already said the death appears to be a suicide. The man has been identified as Abdela M. Hagaito, a 42-year-old Chicago resident.
