Gun accident: Chicago area man accidentally kills self while showing off shotgun

A 31-year-old Chicago area man is dead after making a deadly mistake with a shotgun.
Eric Zyzanski was barbecuing at his Evanston apartment August 4. He had his girlfriend along with some close friends over. At some point, he decided to show off his new mini shotgun to his buddies.
His girlfriend tried to get him to put the gun away, which prompted Zyzanski to show it wasn’t dangerous. So, he ejected loaded rounds from the gun, put the gun to his face and fired.
Unfortunately for him, the weapon still had one shell inside. Zyzanski was pronounced dead at the hospital two hours later. Zyzanski had no history of depression or drug use. He is survived by a 13-year-old son in Indiana.
