Dodger Girl is a sweet pitbull who needs a Forever Home.

Dodger Girl is a year and a half old healthy pit bull looking for her forever home. She currently lives at the Burbank Animal Shelter who has held her for a very long time hoping someone would adopt her. Dodger has been overlooked because there are so many pit bulls in the Los Angeles county shelter. She is great with kids and other dogs and would be great with an active owner and yard.

00:17 Dodger came to the shelter about a year ago as a stray.
00:21 Dodger was a young, energetic pup, and she still is.
00:25 Dodger is an American Stafford Terrier,
00:28 and she's amazing with kids.
00:30 She's good with other dogs.
00:32 But she's been here at the shelter a very long time.
00:33 We've been trying to find a home for her.
00:35 And no one is really interested, and we just
00:38 can't understand why.
00:40 She is technically a pit bull, but pit bulls get a bad rep.
00:43 And she's a good family dog, and most of them are.
00:46 And that's what they're bred to be,
00:47 or around children originally.
00:50 We call our shelter the Pit Bull and Chihuahua Rescue,
00:53 because sometimes you look down, and it's
00:55 just pit bulls and chihuahuas.
00:56 Chihuahuas are-- they're hard to get out,
00:58 but they're easier because they're small dogs.
01:00 It's the pit bulls, like Dodger, that we end up
01:03 keeping for so long to find the right home.
01:07 The misconception about adopting a shelter
01:09 dog is the damaged dog.
01:11 It is a misconception.
01:12 They're not broken.
01:13 They're not unadoptable.
01:15 They're not damaged.
01:17 Her real name is Dodger Girl, because she is a girl.
01:20 She's been here a little bit too long,
01:21 I think because of the stigma of pits.
01:24 She is a very sweet dog, and they
01:27 do want to sleep near people and be part of the family.
01:31 Pit bulls can be very gentle and very sweet family dogs,
01:36 and Dodger Girl is one of those dogs.
01:38 She's the type of dog, if I could take another dog home
01:42 with me, I would take her.
01:44 When she goes, we'll all be crying at the door.
01:46 But we'll be happy.
01:47 There'll be tears of happiness.
01:49 Ideally, it would be nice for her to be around children
01:52 and with the family.
01:53 But as long as she gets somebody that loves her, accepts her,
01:57 and keeps her for her entire life,
01:58 that would make me happy.
