00:00Romeo is a sweet little dog that came to us a couple days ago.
00:10Someone had put in a call that a dog was hit by a car and they found him laying on the
00:15side of his injured partner.
00:16I guess they had gotten out of someone's house together and one of them got hit by a car
00:21and he stayed with her the whole time.
00:23She was injured and probably dying and he stayed by her side.
00:27And unfortunately she died on the way to the vet and he lived so he's here with us
00:32now.
00:33He lost his Juliet so we called him Romeo.
00:36Romeo is, he really, really, truly showed his loyalty to his dying companion Juliet
00:42which in itself is heartbreaking.
00:44We know the trauma that he went through, the trauma of sitting there by that poor, sad
00:49partner of his.
00:51That's really hurtful for any living being.
00:53It was really sad just because he was with this dog that was dying.
00:58Dogs are really loyal creatures and I think that's why we as humans love them so much.
01:02So it was really sad but now he's here with us and we'll take care of him and hopefully
01:06find him a better home.
01:07He probably does miss her but we're kind of distracting him with other dogs right now
01:13so I think he'll be alright.
01:15Romeo wasn't injured, he's doing just fine.
01:17He's about five years old, he's kind of like a Maltese mix.
01:21So he's like a little white fluffy dog, super friendly, super cute.
01:25He probably lives in someone's backyard but they fed him because he's not underweight
01:29and he seems healthy to us so he was in someone's home but unfortunately it wasn't a very good
01:35one.
01:36The facility here is very large.
01:39We have four dog runs with 48 kennels in each dog run.
01:43We have two cat buildings.
01:45Every dog that comes in, we have to hold them for four business days before anything happens
01:49to them.
01:50Once the four days is up, we can spay, neuter them, get them adopted or if they're sick
01:55or suffering or if they're very aggressive, then they'll probably be humanely euthanized.
02:00Unfortunately it happens because we don't have all the space in the world and we don't
02:03have all the resources to walk these dogs every day and keep them happy and they don't
02:09deserve to be in a cage forever.
02:11Coming here, it's kind of the incentive to adopt anyway when you come here so come on
02:17down.
02:18Once you see all these dogs, you can't do anything but hope.
02:21I think any home would be a great home for Romeo.
02:24A family, single family home, kids, someone living in an apartment, perfect.
02:30He would fit in anyone's lifestyle.
02:31If he was in your house, sitting on your couch, he'd curl up in your lap and cuddle with you
02:35all night.
