00:00Hi, I'm a Yorkshire Terrier.
00:12You can call me a Yorkie for short.
00:14My body may be tiny, but it packs a big personality.
00:18I love being the center of attention, and if you give it to me, we'll get along just
00:22fine.
00:23I've got tons of confidence no matter how many people or pets are in the house with
00:27me.
00:28I'm full of energy in and out of the house, so don't expect me to get cuddly until I've
00:32gotten in lots of playtime.
00:35My family originated in Yorkshire, England in the mid-19th century.
00:39We were bred from a mix of different Scottish Terriers and used to hunt down pests.
00:44Since we were so small, we could chase down all kinds of animals into their burrows and
00:48dens.
00:49As time went on, we were bred to be smaller and smaller.
00:52That's how we became such a fashionable pet.
00:55We Yorkies can live about 12 to 17 years.
00:58We typically grow between 7 to 10 inches and weigh around 3 to 7 pounds.
01:04Some Yorkies end up being extra small, though.
01:06Those are called Teacup Yorkies.
01:08We're known for being a hypoallergenic dog, so we're great for anyone who may have allergies.
01:14Like other small breeds, we're prone to a few health issues, like hip and joint problems.
01:18Our bodies are tiny and fragile, so no rough housing.
01:21I may have a big bark, but there's not a lot of me to back it up.
01:24I'm small, but I'm still a Terrier.
01:27I'm used to taking charge, so training me will take some patience and persistence.
01:31Also, I love teasing and messing with other dogs way bigger than me, so keep my leash
01:36handy.
01:37I'm cool with living in either an apartment or a house.
01:40Just remember how much energy I have.
01:42If you don't want me running laps in your living room, leash me up and get me outside
01:46for a walk or two, or three, every day.
01:49Let's recap.
01:50I'm great with families.
01:51My breed started in 19th century England.
01:54I can live a pretty long life with good care and a gentle touch.
01:57And I'm totally cool with living in an apartment or house.
02:00Okay, talking's boring.
02:01When do we go outside?
