Jazzy was living with two broken legs for a long time before she was legally taken from her home by authorities. She was brought to a shelter and about to be euthanized when a rescue picked her up. Now the rescue group is trying to raise money for a necessary surgery before Jazzy can find a forever home.

00:00 Jazzy is about one and a half years old.
00:03 She came from North Central Animal Shelter.
00:06 This type of a dog doesn't really stand a chance in the shelter.
00:09 Hi, my name is Betsy Rue and I do all the rescuing for Dogs Without Borders Rescue and
00:15 this here is Jazzy, my latest rescue.
00:18 Jazzy was pretty much on the cart to be euthanized when I walked into the shelter to pick up
00:25 another dog.
00:26 She actually was an evidence case for animal cruelty because of her injuries.
00:31 She might have gotten hit by a car.
00:33 She was taken from her owners for neglect.
00:36 Her owners didn't take her to the vet.
00:38 So she had a heel like this and imagine how much pain she was in and sometimes it's just
00:44 amazing that she is still such a happy little girl.
00:50 Jazzy has two fractures in the front of her legs.
00:55 This one is actually broken in her femur.
00:59 You can see that it hangs, dangles right here where this one is straight.
01:04 She's actually using the fractured part of her bone to now walk on which is causing her
01:10 a lot of pain because she's rubbing this raw.
01:14 The other thing is that we don't know exactly how long ago this happened.
01:17 This is definitely an old injury.
01:19 She's got scars running down inside both of these legs.
01:24 So the vet approximates that it was probably at least six to nine months ago for her bones
01:29 to fuse the wrong way.
01:32 The surgery for Jazzy is more than we can afford.
01:36 I'm very happy that we have her and saved her life.
01:38 However, we're hoping that kindness of others will make it all possible.
01:43 I know that they have to break her already broken leg in order to repair it.
01:48 That's one major surgery.
01:50 The other one, I think they're going to put a pin in it just to strengthen it.
01:56 The surgery is going to cost roughly about $4,000.
02:00 And then she should need some rehabilitation.
02:03 But after she gets rehabilitated, she should be a completely healthy, normal dog and able
02:10 to use all four of her little legs.
02:13 So if anybody is interested in making a pledge and a donation for Jazzy, please go to www.dogswithoutborders.org
