00:02 Hello, I'm Avicla, and let me tell you
00:11 what makes me the national dog of Hungary.
00:13 We are an affectionate, loyal, and energetic breed
00:16 that's great for the entire family.
00:17 Like all working dogs, we love to run and play outside,
00:21 so it's important to take me out for a couple of walks daily.
00:24 If left to our own devices,
00:25 we have a tendency to be a bit mischievous.
00:28 We love our owners and quickly form bonds with the family,
00:31 socialize us early, and we're excellent companions
00:34 for children and the elderly.
00:36 Records show that our breed is over 1,000 years old.
00:39 Because of our amazing sense of smell,
00:41 we were the favorite hunting dogs of the Magyar tribe
00:44 in modern day Hungary.
00:45 After World War II, our breed almost went extinct.
00:49 If it weren't for the brave efforts
00:50 of some native Hungarians,
00:52 who were able to smuggle some of us out of Hungary,
00:54 we wouldn't be around today.
00:56 Vizslas tend to live between 12 and 15 years.
01:00 We are a medium-sized dog, standing 21 to 25 inches tall,
01:04 and weighing between 40 and 65 pounds.
01:07 We have short hair and a copper brown coat
01:09 that covers our lean, muscular build.
01:11 Vizslas are a very healthy and robust breed,
01:14 but can be prone to hip dysplasia.
01:17 We Vizslas are highly trainable
01:18 due to our willingness to please
01:20 and our extraordinary intelligence.
01:22 Just remember, we are an energetic, working dog
01:24 with lots of stamina, so we need to be taken out
01:27 for a couple of walks daily if you want us to obey.
01:30 Speaking of obedience, it is recommended
01:32 to bring us to obedience training.
01:34 My ideal place to live is a home with a yard.
01:37 I'm a great pet for the family,
01:38 but remember, my ancestors were hunting dogs,
01:41 so don't leave me alone with a pet rabbit or hamster
01:44 without introducing us first.
01:46 Let's review.
01:47 I'm an affectionate, gentle, loyal,
01:49 and energetic dog that hails from Hungary.
01:51 We were bred by the Magyar tribe
01:53 and considered their prized hunting dog.
01:55 Vizslas are highly trainable dogs
01:57 and adapt quickly to their environment.
01:59 Speaking of environment, I love to live in a house
02:01 with a yard that I can run around in.
02:04 Make sure you take me for a walk.
02:05 I love being around people
02:07 and love playing with them even more.
02:09 That reminds me, let's go outside.
