The Lange Foundation pulled him from the shelter and gave him a second chance.  It took a year before Michael found the dog of his dreams and Grandpa finally found a home. 00:42Grandpa was at the West L.A. shelter for about five weeks,

00:45which is almost unheard of.

00:47He got really lucky because dogs don't get to stick around

00:50there that long usually because of space issues

00:52and other reasons.

01:04He's like a total muffin.

01:05He's adorable, he's behind the desk,

01:07he runs around, he chases the toys, being hilarious.

01:11♪♪

01:16You know, he is an older dog.

01:18He's probably, I'm guessing, around like 10-ish.

01:20He's just a little bit older, and the older ones

01:22tend to get overlooked, unfortunately.

01:25They're just experienced lovers.

01:26They're not old, they just, they know what they're doing.

01:42Good boy.

01:43♪♪

01:45The minute they put him in my arms, he started kissing me.

01:48I knew right then and there that he had wrapped me

01:51around his finger and he was coming home with me.

01:53I changed his name from Grandpa to George because

01:56his personality is such a young spirit.

01:59I just felt that he was too young to be called Grandpa.

02:03And even though he's 10 years old, he has a lot of spunk

02:06and a lot of life, and he's bouncing all over the place.

02:09He went from the streets to a great shelter

02:12to a king-sized bed in central air conditioning.

02:33There we go, good boy.

02:37Good boy.

02:40He's perfectly healthy and he's got many, many years left

02:44to run around and play and give a lot of love,

02:47so I never once gave it a second thought

02:50of adopting a senior again.

02:52I tell George every day that I'm so lucky that he picked me

02:56because he's just such an incredible addition to my life

03:00that I'm thrilled every single day that we're together.
