Fat Boy the Komodo Dragon is one of the scarier animals at Australia Zoo despite this Bindi has some good memories of him with her Dad when she was little. Komodo Dragons like Fatboy have a Dangerous bite with sixteen different types of bacteria in it. They are also great swimmers which helps them get around the islands where they live. They are definitely not good pets and would not be popular with the family dog.
Cast Bindi Irwin.

00:00Meet Fat Boy, our colossal Komodo dragon.
00:13Fat Boy actually has 16 different bacteria in his mouth, so you wouldn't want him to
00:18bite you.
00:19That's why Josh is here, just to make sure he stays nice and calm, which is a good thing
00:23because Komodo dragons can move really fast.
00:27Fat Boy here is a pretty big Komodo dragon, but surprisingly they can get even bigger,
00:33reaching up to 10 feet in length.
00:36You probably wouldn't want to have one at home, it wouldn't go down so well with the
00:40family dog.
00:42Fat Boy here is almost 9 foot, so he's a pretty big boy, but still growing.
00:47He loves his tucker.
00:49When I was 3 years old, I got to come in with Fat Boy with my dad and have a wonderful experience
00:54with him.
00:55I was kissing him on the lips, and loving him, and scratching him, and it was really
01:00special until we got out of the Komodo enclosure.
01:04Dad's eye was twitching, and he said, well, if you could see how fast they could move,
01:09you probably wouldn't be kissing them on the lips.
01:11So now I just give Fat Boy nice scratches.
01:15Komodo dragons are found in a few islands in Indonesia.
01:20Surprisingly they're really good swimmers.
01:23Check out that big, beautiful tail.
01:25That's what they use to propel themselves through the water, so that they can swim from
01:29island to island.
01:31Unfortunately, the Komodo dragons are in a little bit of trouble because of habitat loss
01:37and people.
01:39Sometimes they'll take farmers' livestock, and the farmers aren't very happy about that.
01:43So the Komodo dragons' numbers are decreasing every single day, and they need protection.
01:50We've got animals from all over the world, and there's many more to come.
01:55So make sure you tune in next time, and remember to subscribe to the Pet Collective channel.
