00:00The puppies keep growing and growing.
00:03I think we're going to need a bigger box.
00:16I'm Sharon Osborne and you're watching The Litter.
00:22By week five, the puppies are bigger than ever.
00:27And trying to climb out of their whelping box every chance they get.
00:36They're much more mobile now, getting around as fast as their little legs will carry them.
00:43Still a bit wobbly, but the progress is staggering.
00:50They're also getting more vocal and just starting to get down to the
00:54very important business of play. The old crate just isn't going to cut it anymore.
01:03Guess what Hope? You guys are getting a home makeover.
01:09These lucky pups will have plenty of room to roam in their new whelping box.
01:14I'm sure Hope will really appreciate the extra space too.
01:17Everyone make way for the work crew.
01:25We're just going to tuck the kids away while our construction crew goes to work.
01:35The new whelping box will double the amount of room the kids have to run around.
01:41It should last them until they're ready to get adopted.
01:44Oh, and I know you kids want to help. How are you pups with a hammer?
01:49Don't worry, Leroy. Leave the construction work to the professionals.
01:54Just sit there and be cute. Perfect.
02:03While the crew puts the finishing touches to the new place, we have time for a weigh-in.
02:09We have time for a weigh-in. Let's find out exactly how much bigger these boys have gotten.
02:15To the scales.
02:30Wow, they've packed on plenty of pounds.
02:33They're going to need that extra room. Well done, gentlemen.
02:39Okay, Hope family. Are you guys ready to see your new home?
02:45Move that bus.
03:09Now that's a place you can really grow into.
03:16Looks like everyone loves their new home.
03:19There's still something missing though.
03:22Toys.
03:29For dogs of all breeds, toys are not extras. They are essentials.
03:34Chewing on toys helps dogs relieve stress and boredom.
03:41Toys also help them learn what they are and aren't allowed to chew on.
03:47And they're a must for teething puppies.
03:51Playthings of various textures and firmness help ease the difficult stages of teething discomfort.
04:05Mix it up. See what toys your dog likes best.
04:09Also, it's really cute.
04:15This is way more fun than chewing on mum. Hope agrees.
04:20No, Hope. Chew your toys, not your babies.
04:25No, that's Monroe. I know he looks like a toy.
04:34Puppies love playing with their new toys.
04:37What they don't realize is how much they're learning in the process.
04:44As pack animals, dogs want to know their place in the pecking order.
04:50Playtime is when they start to figure out who's top dog and who's less dominant.
05:00The toys are great for practicing on.
05:05Take down three points.
05:11Through the process of pinning, biting, escaping and reversing the roles,
05:16the puppies also learn how rough they can play with each other.
05:20They find out how hard they can bite before their playmate decides, I'm out of here.
05:27So if a chomp-happy puppy wants to keep playing, he knows he's going to have to ease up a bit.
05:34That's better.
05:37Playing is also a bonding experience.
05:44The puppies discover a level of roughhousing that's comfortable, fun and non-threatening.
05:51They carry this experience with them throughout their lives.
05:56See, playing isn't just all fun and games.
06:00Sweet dreams, you kids.
06:01Glad you love the added space in your new toys and are growing up so healthy and strong.
06:09Whoops, one more thing.
06:12Hope's belly rub.
06:16Good girl, Hope.
06:19Have you adopted from a shelter?
06:22Please share your stories in the comments section.
06:29Next time on The Litter.
06:32The little tyke's puppy personalities really start to shine through.
