Sweet Autumn was picked up as a stray and found to be pregnant and about to give birth to fourteen puppies. The shelter rescued her from the streets and fell in love with her. Knowing she was facing euthanasia, they contacted the no-kill Morongo Basin Humane Society and pleaded with them to take her. They did and are grateful to have done so. The humane society found a home for Autumn and all of her pups.

00:00She came from a kill shelter and her time was up.
00:28The only thing that saved her is that she was such a great dog that the employees started
00:33reaching out and trying to find anybody that had space to take her because they didn't
00:36want to see her meet her untimely end.
00:52We're a non-profit.
00:53We're a small shelter.
00:54It was a little overwhelming to have that many puppies.
00:57We don't have a kennel necessarily large enough to house a nursing mother in a litter of that
01:33I love her.
01:34She has these little sticky up ears that are always up.
01:36She has these big bright eyes.
01:38She has this puppy kind of personality.
01:40Her tail is always wagging.
01:41She's just a very happy dog.
01:48We all stepped out of the office just for a couple moments and when we came back in
01:51we found her completely red-handed with the pizza hanging out of her mouth looking at
01:55us.
01:56The box was torn in half.
01:57She had cheese everywhere.
01:59She used all our pizza.
02:07Her personality is just so sweet, so caring, so giving.
02:12All she wants is love and she will do anything for you and go anywhere with you.
02:18She was called Autumn at the time and I didn't realize because when I say Autumn that's the
02:43English way whereas the girls at the shelter are more American is Autumn.
02:48So Lily was walking straight past me all the time and I'm going Autumn, Autumn, Autumn and
02:52she's like I don't know who you're talking to you know.
03:10I'm the vice president at the Morongo Basin Humane Society.
03:13It's my second year as vice president.
03:17We fostered her and I just couldn't let her go because they're my children and I give
03:22them all my love.
03:23You hope you always get a good home for the dog but I knew that if she stayed with me
03:27she would always have a good home.
03:29So I'm not sure if my husband will let me foster again because so far we've had two
03:34fosters that have stayed.
03:36She has just become the love of my life and she's just finding that life is good and that's
03:41how we're going to keep it for her.
