00:00Hey guys. I have some sad news. Today, I have to retire my favorite pair of boots.
00:08My favorite pair of boots. I will always remember you. All the memories we shared.
00:30You were so young. So full of life. It's not your time. Why do you have to go? Why?
00:42That's a great idea, Mittens. Wait, what if I upcycle my favorite pair of boots to
00:47make a cat grass garden for Mittens? But first, intro finger dance.
00:52Here's what we're going to need. Waterproof spray, pebbles or loose rock,
01:03cat grass or wheatgrass seed, soil, and of course, your old favorite pair of boots.
01:09Look, I know it's tough, but just remember, they're not going away. They're just retiring.
01:15Okay, the first step is to find a boot. Get it? Step. Boot. Boots. Step. Get it?
01:25Then, take the inner sole out of it, so it's all rubber on the inside.
01:31Also, if your boot's too high, the cat won't be able to get the grass, so you can just cut it.
01:37Done. And if you want, you can spray the boot with waterproof spray.
01:45Maybe we do this outside. Now that you have your boot, get a bunch of pebbles.
01:55Ben, you'll need enough to fill the bottom. Thanks, Ben. Fill the entire foot part with
02:01pebbles, so that the ankle leg part is still open. This helps drain the water,
02:06so when the water sits in there, the roots don't rot and become zombie plants.
02:15Done. Now, take your soil and your plants and fill the boot with a layer of soil.
02:27Now, plant your pants. And now, plant your pants. Pants. You can use seeds or... Now,
02:38go ahead and plant your plants. You can use seeds or already sprouted grass in a container.
02:42Cat grass, or Avena sativa, is believed to have nutritional and dietary benefits for your feline
02:48friends. Additionally, grass is green, which is one of my very favorite colors. It's a win-win,
02:55mittens. And you can use the extra soil to fill in around the plant. It's okay if you get messy.
03:04It's dirt. Now, remember, don't water too often, because there's still holes at the bottom of the
03:09boot, so if too much water sits in there, your roots could die or rot. Zombie plants.
03:14I water mine every 10 days or so. And now, decorate as you please.
03:21And voila. Have fun. You can also put things like spider plant or catnip in there. Cats love those
03:26too. And that's it. From footwear to flora, an instant boot garden. Oh, mittens. I'm so glad
03:32that I'm able to share my passion of boots with you.
03:47Hmm. Not exactly what I had in mind. Tell me how your guys' projects came out. And if you have any
03:54ideas for some cool new DIY pet projects, feel free to tell me in the comments below. Post it
03:59on my Facebook or tweet me at SedonaDIY. All right. I gotta go find myself some new favorite
04:05boots. But until then, happy boot gardening.
