Hey guys, so I spent last weekend hiking and pretty much trying to find hummingbirds. They're so hard to spot. So I figured instead of chasing after them, I can have them come to me! This week, I'm going to show you guys how to make your own hummingbird feeder!

Oh, come check me out on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/sedonadiy

00:00Hey guys, Mittens is sad. I think his kitty girlfriend broke up with him.
00:09Don't worry, Mitty, I'll cheer you up.
00:13Aww, he's really heartbroken.
00:17Are you looking for your kitty girlfriend?
00:19Oh, I'm sorry, ex-girlfriend.
00:24Wait a minute, I know something that will cheer you up.
00:27What if we make a hummingbird theater and hang it right outside the window so you can watch the birds all day?
00:33We can call it a hummingbird theater.
00:39Well, let's do an intro finger dance now.
00:48A hummingbird theater is like a TV for cats.
00:51And I'm sure it's fun for the hummingbirds too.
00:53For this project, we're going to need an empty glass bottle, copper wire or tubing, a rubber stopper, or you could use a cork,
01:00a small piece of rubber tubing, a screwdriver or a similar device to use to poke holes with, an empty container with a lid,
01:07scissors, a couple rubber bands, a funnel, red paint that can go on glass, and for the food, you're just going to need sugar and water.
01:15First, make sure your bottle is clean inside and out.
01:18I painted little red flowers on mine.
01:20Why red?
01:21Well, the hummingbird or truchillidae are specialized nectarivores that are symbiotically attracted to the pollination of flowers.
01:31They are especially attracted to red ones.
01:34Why?
01:35Well, red is a very pretty color, but just not as pretty as green and purple.
01:39Now, take about two feet of your copper wire and wrap it around the bottle starting at the neck.
01:46Now, make sure you wrap it nice and tight because it's going to be hanging upside down.
01:50Now, since it's hanging upside down, I made a loop at the bottom or top.
01:56Wait.
01:57Now, just put your bottle aside.
02:00Take your cork and poke a hole in it just like this.
02:05Now, cut a tube and just put it through the hole in the cork.
02:12And done.
02:13This is what it should look like.
02:15Now, get your container and your screwdriver and poke four holes in the lid.
02:20This is how the birds are going to get their food.
02:22Be careful.
02:23Don't hurt yourself.
02:28Now, take your box cutter and cut an X in the middle of the lid.
02:33Now, be very careful because these are very sharp.
02:36And if you need help, just ask an adult.
02:39This is what it should look like.
02:41Now, take the bottle and just put it through the lid like this.
02:45And if you need to secure it, you can just rubber band the lid to the bottle.
02:50Now, to make the hummingbird food.
02:56Take one part sugar and mix with three parts water.
03:02So we pour and we pour.
03:08And we mix and we mix and we mix until it dissolves.
03:17Now, with a funnel, pour your sugar water into the bottle.
03:23Now, take your cork and with the short end of the tube, put it into the bottle.
03:29Ta-da.
03:30Now, take your scissors and cut the excess off.
03:35Now, just take your bottle and put it in the container.
03:38And voila, a nice hummingbird food.
03:40I hot glued little red flowers on my lid to decorate it.
03:43Now, just find a nice branch to hang it on and there you go.
03:47Thank you for joining us on another episode of Hummingbird Theater.
03:52I do say, I found the birds' performance a sprightful pursuit,
03:57a delightful liberation of uninspired mediocrity.
04:01How about you, Midgens?
04:04Well said, chap.
04:06And now for our special guest performance by Maisie.
04:11I want to see what your projects came out like,
04:13so post a picture on my Facebook wall, Twitter, and don't forget to subscribe.
04:17Toodle-oo!
