Hey guys! Remember last week when I baked some delicious dog treats? Well, Mr. Mittens got a bit jealous, so we're going to make some awesome crunchy cat cookies for him! Hold the tuna, generous on the cap nip!
Oh, come check me out on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/sedonadiy
00:00Hey guys! Remember when I taught you how to make homemade dog treats?
00:03Seems like it was only last week.
00:06Probably because it was.
00:08Well, turns out someone got a little jealous and I'm not going to name any names but it rhymes with schmittens.
00:15This week I'm going to be teaching our viewers how to make crunchy kitty cat cookies.
00:20Yay!
00:22You done?
00:26Awesome.
00:27First, intro finger dance.
00:30Yay!
00:35First and foremost, it's important to know what kind of foods are good for your cat and what kind of foods are bad for your cat.
00:41Like canned tuna.
00:42No way.
00:43Yes!
00:44What?
00:45I know, it's crazy.
00:46Seriously?
00:47Yes!
00:48Wow.
00:49Other foods that are bad for your cat include onions, garlic, chocolate, caffeine, salt,
00:55R-rated movies, spiky faces, can openers, microwaves, Taylor Swift, big cameras that will flash in their face.
01:08You can give your cat tuna on special occasions but only in small amounts.
01:12Sorry mittens, where's schmittens?
01:16But, you know what's a great source of protein?
01:18Chicken and eggs.
01:19For this project we are going to need 1 cup of ground cooked chicken, 1 large egg, 1 cup of oat flour, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and a heaping tablespoon of catnip.
01:31Catnip, or nepeta cataria, not only acts as a stimulant and attractant for both wild and domestic felines,
01:39but it is also a natural source for a bug repellent for bugs like termites, beetles, cockroaches, and mosquitoes.
01:47It is also commonly used in herbal teas to help aid stress relief and sleep.
01:52You'll be catching those ZZZ's in no time.
01:56Go on!
01:58It's really easy to make oat flour at home.
02:00Just take some whole grain oats and put them in a food processor or freshly cleaned coffee grinder.
02:05I like to use oat flour because it's easier on a cat's digestive system.
02:10Now, set the oven to 350 degrees and now it's time to combine our ingredients.
02:21Combine 1 cup of ground cooked chicken, 1 cup of oat flour, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 large egg.
02:40Now 1 egg.
02:44Wait, what?
02:45And finally, 1 heaping tablespoon of catnip.
02:50And now we mix and we mix and we mix and we mix.
02:59Or you could just use a food processor.
03:02Now scoop out half teaspoon sized pieces of the dough and roll them into little balls.
03:06Take a fork and smush down the cookie and slide out the fork.
03:10Now they're ready for the oven. Let them bake for about 10 to 12 minutes or until they've browned.
03:17This gives me time to throw flour all over myself and make it look like I've been slaving away in the kitchen all day.
03:24The things I do for my pets.
03:27Cookies are done.
03:32Mmm, mittens, what do you think?
03:36Make sure to let the crunchy kitty cat cookies cool completely before you let your cat eat them.
03:40Wow, say that five times fast.
03:43Now put the cookies in an airtight container and put them in the fridge.
03:46Oh no, not this again.
03:50Since I'm in the kitchen, I made myself a little treat.
03:54Mmm, grilled cheese.
04:00No, Ben! Bad!
04:04It's hot!
04:06It's hot!
04:08It's hot!
04:09It's hot!
04:10It's hot!
04:11It's hot!
04:12It's hot!
04:13It's hot!
04:14It's hot!
04:15It's hot!
04:17I hope your kitty enjoyed their cookies.
