00:07 I met him and he was just this ball of joy.

00:11 He was just the cutest thing in the universe.

00:24 He's got a lot of different personalities.

00:27 Every expression he has, you can really see it in his face.

00:30 It's really adorable.

00:34 Find Momo is a game of hide and seek.

00:40 It's either a game of hide and seek with an element of photography,

00:44 or it's quasi-nice photography with an element of finding a dog.

00:50 Find Momo has really stepped up the animal game on the internet.

00:54 Most people, unless they're terrible people, would like an adorable dog to be in their life

00:58 and their phone to be filled with photos of that dog.

01:02 That spontaneous magic of finding an animal in a place that you would never have guessed.

01:10 People love photos of cute dogs, and I just happened to have a really cute dog.

01:15 Eventually, world domination, I guess.

01:19 My name is Andrew Knapp, and my dog's name is Momo.

01:26 And he likes to hide.

01:28 [MUSIC]

01:31 How it began was Momo runs off when I'm about to throw him a stick or a ball or something,

01:39 and he kind of runs to where he thinks I'm going to throw it to.

01:42 [MUSIC]

01:45 So he ran off in the mountains and forests that I now explore a lot,

01:49 and he kind of just dinked down behind a tree stump.

01:56 It was just kind of adorable.

02:03 I took a picture and I hashtagged it #FindMomo.

02:10 It was a fun way to share my adventures with Momo.

02:15 And it wasn't a hard game.

02:16 He's always easy to find, but it was a fun game.

02:31 Before I had Momo, it was my life.

02:34 And then once I got Momo, it was no longer Andrew.

02:37 It was Andrew and Momo.

02:39 I knew that everything was going to be different.

02:43 Momo's really special.

02:45 Training to me was just spending as much time as I could with him.

02:48 The photos are not planned or prearranged.

02:52 I just know--I don't know, maybe Momo knows too now.

02:55 He's like, "Oh, no. Not again."

02:58 And then we do the hiding thing.

03:01 That is what makes it so wonderful and what makes us connect to it

03:05 because it's not something that's preplanned.

03:07 It's not something that's staged.

03:08 It's interactive.

03:09 I mean, when you see the image, you get excited because you want to find the dog.

03:13 It's got all this great stuff wrapped in one, like a cute dog that you care about,

03:16 and then you get to win the game, and nobody loses.

03:19 Everybody wins. That's what's great about Momo.

03:21 There's times where he's kind of like--he pops his head up and his ears are perked out.

03:25 He's like, "Here I am. I hope you can see me."

03:28 Cute little dog hidden in a beautiful picture.

03:33 Those are the perfect Find Momo photos.

03:36 Momo, you know, he steps back.

03:38 He's like, "Let's experience the beauty of the world, and I'm just in the corner."

03:42 It's an interesting thing also because it's not that hard to find him most of the time.

03:46 It's so hard to find Momo.

03:48 Momo is almost never in the photos as far as I'm concerned.

03:51 Momo, where are you?

03:53 Oh, man.

03:54 Oh, I still haven't found him.

03:56 Hmm.

03:58 I keep looking in the sky like he's going to be up there somehow.

04:01 That would be dangerous.

04:06 There was never any intention to make Momo Instagram famous.

04:11 There was something really special about this dog, and I felt like this is an awesome way to be able to share that.

04:16 You go, you take a photo, you upload it, you share it, you're done.

04:19 I think the sort of animal memes are custom-made for Instagram because, you know, it's like somebody texted you a photo almost,

04:26 and then you're going to send it to all your family and friends.

04:28 I got a lot of response from all my friends that were following me.

04:31 They were all like, "Oh, this is really cool. You should do this some more."

04:34 And I said, "Maybe I should."

04:36 I started sharing with their friends and telling them to check it out.

04:39 They loved it, and then he posted it online.

04:41 It jumped up to 10,000 or something followers almost overnight.

04:45 The Internet loved it.

04:46 It was a really beautiful picture with a small little dog in the corner that you had to find.

04:52 It was kind of like the canine version of "Where's Waldo?"

04:54 One, the photography is absolutely stunning, and two, it's a game.

04:58 It was just unbelievable.

05:00 It's amazing how quickly some of these memes take off.

05:02 Momo has a Facebook page and a Twitter.

05:06 I also do the Tumblr thing.

05:08 I think it's just smart because you don't know where they're going to go.

05:11 I'm really, really excited because we're putting a book out.

05:17 Momo has a book deal, which, you know, for Internet celebrities,

05:20 that's basically the "You made it" sign of approval.

05:24 These animals are not just Internet sensations.

05:26 They are more than that.

05:27 They are touching people's lives, and people want to connect to them besides just being online.

05:32 I'm not making much of a statement with Find Momo.

05:34 I'm not trying to change the world.

05:36 But when you're just sharing a cute dog and saying, "Hey, it's just cute.

05:40 Just take a second and smile," you know, that's all it is.

05:43 Good boy.

05:48 If you're trying to make your dog famous, stop trying.

05:52 If it happens that your dog and your photography need to come together, then they will.

05:57 I hope that to some degree someone sees it and says,

06:01 "I want to go in the mountains or go downtown with my dog,"

06:04 or, "I want to go create something," even if it ends up being nothing,

06:09 because then it will lead me to something else, the next thing, you know?
