James Best, ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ Star, Dead at 88

James Best, best known for his role as bumbling Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on "The Dukes of Hazzard," died Monday night. He was 88. The actor passed away at a hospice facility following a brief illness and complications from pneumonia, a close friend told the Charlotte Observer. Aside from roles on other TV shows like "Gunsmoke," "Mod Squad" and "Bonanza," Best also formed an acting school in the '70s that taught Hollywood greats like Burt Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, Lindsay Wagner, Farrah Fawcett and Quentin Tarantino.
