Video of the eruption of Costa Rica’s Turrialba Volcano was taken by the National University’s Volcanological and Seismological Observatory, and it has released a time-lapse version.

Costa Rica’s Turrialba Volcano erupted again on April 5th, blowing ash over 1500 feet into the air and necessitating the evacuation of a number of tourists.

Video of the event was taken by the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica, National University, and it has released a time-lapse version which condenses hours of activity down to less than a minute.

It shows the dramatic moment ash began to shoot into the sky and tracks the thick cloud that spreads across the area.
