Oil Cleanse For Blackheads & Pimples

Update: I've been using a mix of hazelnut oil and avocado oil. It also gives great results for my skin so I wanted to share it in case you guys are still trying to find the perfect oils and want ideas!

Why strip all of the oils from your skin with a harsh cleanser to dry out a zit when you can create a healthy skin environment, a healthy acid mantle, and skin that is generally less prone to infection? This cleanse has been great for my acne, blackheads, whiteheads and pimples! In the case that I DO get a stubborn pimple, I throw some tea tree oil on top of it and go to bed, but that's worst case scenario. I find that my skin will stay clear if I do everything right. My acne was bad (my mom described it as out of control) but it was not severe, I have seen much worse unfortunately and I really empathize with it. If you have very severe acne, you may need extra help with it outside of diet and proper skin treatment. But generally, there is hope for most of us if we make the proper adjustments and get to know our body and skin!

Q: Does this work on waterproof makeup
A: I can't say if it works for waterproof makeup because I've never tried it :(. Sorry! I wish I could be of more help, darnit! But even on days that I wear enough make-up to look like a black-forest cake, the oil makes short work of it! So I think it'll be a formidable foe for waterproof makeup!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to find a quality castor oil for this method of cleansing. The brand of castor oil I use is pure, cold pressed, hexane free and certified by periodic laboratory tests to be free of pesticide residues. Bad things will happen to your skin if you use a contaminated oil, and that is where the bulk of the bad oil cleanse reviews come from. So be a smart shopper!

I have gotten requests to show you how I do an oil cleanse, so here it is! Cleansing with oil on a dry face is actually a very popular practice in Asia. Shu Uemura has an entire line of oil cleansers dedicated to different types of skin, and that's how I discovered the method years ago. My skin is combination oily. My boyfriend does this 1-2 times a day and uses castor oil for a few other things as well! I hope this helps.

Ingredients: Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Cold-Pressed Hexane Free Castor Oil (the one I use is by The Palma Christi)
I buy all of my oils at Whole Foods!

Love and light,
Kassie
