A two-legged Chihuahua that was recently rescued in southern California has landed in a new home.

Doug Smith, the supervising animal control officer in San Bernardino County is now the owner of the pooch that has melted many hearts this past week. Last Tuesday, reports came in about an injured dog and animal control officers picked him up in Highland.

They soon learned the canine they named Joey wasn't injured, but is instead just a lively little pooch that only has a left front leg and right hind leg. When no one came forward to claim Joey, animal control officials decided it was time for him to be placed up for adoption and one of the people who got attached to him during his short time in the county's care is Doug Smith.
