Set two months after the events of Megaman IV, a new set of 8 Robot Masters are wreaking havoc across the earth, and the one behind all of this mayhem is... Protoman!? Why would he suddenly be causing all sorts of trouble right now? And what worse, he's kidnapped Dr. Light.
Thankfully though, Megaman is not alone. Feeling obligated to do more for him in his time of need, Dr. Cossack has decided to help fill in until Megaman can rescue Dr. Light. Although he has taken a Pepe robot perfectly in tact, Dr. Cossack says he can use it to build another robot (like Rush and Eddie) and help Megaman in battle, but only if Megaman can find the necessary parts to do so.
Once again, Megaman is put back on the battlefield with his companion Rush and Eddie (whenever he's available), but never would he have expected to go up against his own prototype brother. It might mean destroying a member of his family, but Megaman must do what he can to save his father. If there is an afterlife for robots, may they have mercy on Megaman's soul for what must be done.
