An elderly lollipop man, or crossing guard in Coventry, UK was recently assaulted by a suspect who stole his stick.

An elderly lollipop man, or crossing guard, in Coventry, UK was recently assaulted by a suspect who stole his stick.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 21st, however West Midlands police released CCTV footage of the incident a week later in the hopes of catching the individual responsible.

The 82-year-old victim is a well-liked man in the community. He held the same position as a lollipop man for 14 years and traveled about 10 miles each day to help schoolchildren cross the street.

Since the incident, however, he hasn't returned to work because he's too shaken up. The suspect seemingly targeted him right away, but it's unclear why.

The man who was dressed in dark clothing had been standing on the other side of the street when he focused his sights on the lollipop man, crossed the road and grabbed his sign.
