Russia to host Syrian peace talks in late January

Some are hopeful that Western-led negotiations between the various warring factions in Syria will help put an end to the conflict that has killled thousands and left millions of refugees. Not all are so keen on participating in the dialigues. A main Syrian opposition official said in a statement on Friday that he has declined an invitation to take part in a Russian-led bid for new talks to end the conflict.
