TGI Friday's Mistletoe Drone Injures Photographer

While on assignment at one of the chain's locations, a photographer received cuts to her face from one of the holiday drones.

For the holiday season this year, a TGI Fridays promotion that reportedly began in the UK and has made its way to select US locations. It uses drones with mistletoe attached to them flying around the restaurants encouraging couples to kiss.

The promotion seemed harmless enough, until a photographer had her face cut up by one.

Georgine Benvenuto was on assignment at the Fridays located in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.

Her job was to capture a couple kissing underneath one of the mistletoe drones.

According to Benvenuto, two drones were flying around. A large one, and a smaller one meant as a children's toy.

When the drone operator attempted to show a reporter he could land the device on her hand, she quickly flinched, causing the drone to fly into Benvenuto's face.

Benvenuto says she was cut on her chin and the drone “literally chipped off a tip” of her nose. Even so, she knows it could have been worse.

TGI Fridays noted that drones in other locations have not caused any injuries and released a statement, saying, "...safety is our first priority and we are sorry that this isolated incident occurred."
