Several Dead After Small Plane Crashes Into MD Home

On Monday, a jet crashed into a residential neighborhood in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Federal Aviation Administration said the small jet was approaching Runway 14 of the Montgomery County Airpark when the aircraft crashed into a home.

A small plane recently crashed into a residential neighborhood in Gaithersburg, Maryland. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane was approaching Runway 14 of the Montgomery County Airpark when it crashed into a nearby home.

A Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson confirmed the accident caused a fire in the affected residence, along with two other homes in the vicinity.

Fire crews were able to control the blaze, but unfortunately three people were found dead. Their identities have yet to be released. A search and rescue operation was launched to find other victims on the plane or inside the residences.

One person saw the plane, and of the pilot said, “You could tell he was struggling with the sticks. He was trying to pull up; he would gain a little elevation and then drop again...his wings were wobbling back and forth, very unsteadily.”

The home directly hit by the aircraft sustained significant structural and fire damage. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are both investigating the incident.
