92-Year-Old Crashes Minivan Through MD Clothing Store

A minivan recently plowed into a clothing store in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The incident happened at around noon on Thursday, right as two people with an infant were entering the business called Rugged Wearhouse.

A minivan recently plowed into a clothing store in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The incident happened at around noon on Thursday, right as two people with an infant were entering the business called Rugged Wearhouse.

The vehicle finally came to a stop about 50 to 60 feet inside the building. Clothing racks were left knocked over and skid marks could be seen on the floor.

The driver is said to be a 92-year-old male. He reportedly mistook the gas pedal for the brake.

According to witnesses, the man may have been trying to pull into the handicapped space in front of the store before driving through the entrance.

Montgomery County Police and Fire crews arrived on scene shortly after the wreck. Two pedestrians were left injured as a result of the crash.

Police noted the victims’ injuries were listed as non-life threatening. The elderly driver was not hurt, but received citations for failure to control speed to avoid a collision and negligent driving .

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
