We could have stayed at home
Ignored the time in history you called for us
Used our greater power to provide for only us
Build greater Chinese walls around us
We do not need commerce with you
Pulling away from a world economy will not hurt us
Then what would be said of us
And where would the world be without us
Resurrect thousands of white crosses in Arlington
Why should you deserve them?
Thinking we only do for ourselves
Take back your bullets and shrapnel from my body
And restore the lives of my brothers
And erase these memories that belong to you
Take the tears from my eyes I shed for you
As I shielded your wounded from your own
And you say it is wickedness that we do
When I fought, bled, and cried for you
“So that others may live”
Is a concept foreign to you
A soldiers love is a very powerful thing
Because even now I would still die for you
So you can live.
