Spanish court upholds fraud charges against Princess Christina

A Spanish court has confirmed it is upholding charges of tax fraud against the sister of the Spanish king.
The High Court of Palma de Mallorca ruled it would however drop charges of money laundering against Princess Cristina de Borbon.
The princess was charged along with 16 others, including her husband Inaki Urdangarin, a former Olympic medal-winning handball player, of embezzling public funds worth six million euros.
The princess should now have to appear in court to face two counts of tax fraud.
However, there is a chance she will avoid trial if judges decide to use a discretionary power to drop charges. They can do this if the case was not brought by a public prosecutor which is the case here as it was brought by right-wing, anti-corruption group Manos Limpias (Clean Hands.)
