Venezuela: World social organizations meet to address climate change

The world's first social preCOP (conference of the parties) to address the issue of climate change is underway in Venezuela, in Isla Margarita. Organized by the Venezuelan government, the participants represent environmental NGOs, social movements, and activists from around the world. The aim is to adopt a peoples plan of action to tackle climate change, with a commitment by Venezuela to bring this people's agenda to the official UN COP in Lima in December. The idea is to ensure that social movements have an influence on UN climate change deliberations. Rachael Boorthroyd reports from Isla Margarita. teleSUR
