Putin signs law restricting foreign investments in Russian media

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law barring foreign investors from holding more than a 20 percent stake in the country’s media.

It also limits non-nationals from co-founding media outlets.

The new rules, which come into effect January 2016, could force some of the world’s largest media companies to sell off or shut down their operations in Russia.
