Manhattan’s latest Park Avenue Tower is now New York City’s tallest apartment building. Construction recently reached the top floor and the end result is a 96-story, 1,396 foot high tower.

It has a 150 foot advantage over the Empire State Building. Although a controversial factoid, 432 Park Avenue is technically taller than One World Trade Center which stands 1,776 but that’s only with the 408-foot spire.

The roof of One World Trade Center is more than 25 feet lower than the new tower. Not only is the building the tallest residential one in the city, but it’s actually the highest in the whole Western Hemisphere.

432 Park reportedly cost $1.3 billion to build. The developer, Harry B. Macklowe remarked “It's almost like the Mona Lisa. Except instead of it looking at you, you're looking at it wherever you are. You can't escape it.”

The tower contains 104 apartments with the cheapest starting at $7 million. The 96th floor penthouse has already sold for $95 million, while the 95th floor version is still for sale at a price of $85 million.

The building is scheduled to officially open next year.
